Indo-Pacific Bottlenose Dolphin Transect Surveys

I worked as a field assistant with the Cetacean Ecology, Behavior and Evolution Lab (CEBEL) at Flinders University, conducting boat-based research on Australian humpback dolphins and Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins around Ningaloo Reef off the Northwest Cape of Western Australia. While operating a 30-foot research vessel, I conducted line-transect surveys to estimate dolphin abundance, photographed individuals for photo-identification using DSLR cameras and laser photogrammetry, and collected behavioral and environmental data that contributed to understanding these coastal dolphin populations.
